Review: The Score (Off-Campus #3) by Elle Kennedy

Title: The Score

Author: Elle Kennedy

Series: Off-Campus #3

Publication: January 11, 2016

Genres: New Adult, Contemporary

Summary: He knows how to score, on and off the ice Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands. It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

Dean and Allie are a perfect example of "opposite's attract". Dean is the extremely rich campus man-whore and Allie is the type of girl who never had a one-night-stand …until Dean.

This book is very character-driven and you can see the changes the characters go through as you read the story. The romance is very gradual, which is my favorite kind. They don’t quickly declare their love for each other, but slowly progress in their relationship. It isn't too cheesy either, which is easily found in other New Adult books. This is a relatively long book (350 pages), but it didn't feel long as I was reading it. I like character-driven stories so I had no trouble falling in love with this one.

Dean made a few mistakes that I felt were little forced in order to create conflict, but overall, I really liked Dean. He is misunderstood but doesn’t hide the fact that he does what he likes and he does not care what other people think. Allie was a nice character that tries to stay true to who she is and doesn’t bend her beliefs. She may not be my favorite heroine in the Off-Campus series, but I still liked her very much and I think a lot of other readers will like her too.

One of the my favorite part of this series is the bromance. Garret, Logan, Tuck and Dean are so entertaining to read that I laughed out loud a few times. There's a special scene with a bath and pink dildo, which will have you dying. I also liked reading about Garret and Logan, because it's reminiscent of the previous books and I felt a little sentimental.

Overall, this is a sweet, light New Adult romance. There is minimum angst in this book which I LOVE, because angst is in abundance in the New Adult genre. If you're in need of a quick, light romance, check this book out.
