Review: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Title: Six of Crows

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Publication Date: September 29, 2015

Genre: Fantasy

Summary: Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone... A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums. A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes. Kaz's crew are the only ones who might stand between the world and destruction—if they don't kill each other first.

Whoa. I don't know what else is there to say about Six of Crows. So much happens all in one book! Six of Crows is packed with action. No quiet moment whatsoever! It is definitely exciting throughout its entirety.

The writing is beautiful; it made me want to shed tears. The writing is majestic, detailed, and just so fabulous. I can tell Leigh Bardugo really took her time to the find the right words to say what needed to be said.

Characterization is on point for the whole way. It petrified me how different the characters are, yet they have the same goals. They each have strengths AND weaknesses. Reading flawed characters is wonderful; it's what exactly I look for.. Even the criminal mastermind, Kaz, has his weak moments. What I loved most were the interactions between the characters. They're almost constantly bickering, making it so fun reading what each person's comeback is. It kept the dialogue lively.

The action is abundant! And realistic. The Fjerdans don't make their mission easy and it should be far from easy especially the goal they want to achieve.

My only complaint about Six of Crows is the length of the book. It felt like an eternity to read it. Because there are so many details, you have to read carefully to read it properly and get the full story. It gave me headaches and I got sleepy sometimes because the details were so much. Details aren't a bad thing at all! Six of Crows is just definitely not a book you can sit through the whole day and read.

Nonetheless, I absolutely recommend reading this action-packed book! You will adore the characters, guaranteed!
