Title: Remembrance

Rating: 4 Crowns

Summary: In REMEMBRANCE, the seventh installment of the Mediator series, all Susannah Simon wants is to make a good impression at her first job since graduating from college (and becoming engaged to Dr. Jesse de Silva).

But when she stumbles across an ancient murder, old ghosts—and ex-boyfriends—aren’t all that come back to haunt her.

REMEMBRANCE will be the first ever adult installment of the Mediator, published by William Morrow, the adult division of HarperCollins, the company that brought you the YA books in the series.

When I hear that Meg Cabot was releasing an Adult continuation of the Mediator series, my excitement level was at an all-time high. I loved the books when I was growing up so reading about an adult Sue and Jesse sounded so intriguing.

This book reminded me of the previous books in the Mediator series. It is reminiscent of the original series and holds many of the same characteristics as the previous books. For example, many of the characters are still the same and the plot revolves around Sue helping a ghost move on while preventing Paul from killing Jesse. Sue is the same independent problem-solver, who doesn’t sugar coat anything. She tells it like it is and I like that about her. She is not afraid to speak her mind, which is admirable though a hindrance for her in some situations. Paul is also the same antagonist, who is obsessed with Sue and threatens Jesse. Can't say my of him has changed.

My favorite part of the book (and the series) is Jesse. He is the ideal boyfriend/fiancé. He may be too perfect, but that's how I like my men-flawless. He is a doctor, handsome, respectful and understanding. I loved reading scenes that included Jesse and fell more in love with his character. He is protective of Sue, yet respects her and his Spanish didn't hurt either.

My two problems with the book was that the beginning dragged a little. The dialogue between Paul and Sue was unnecessarily long. Also, there were too many subplots that kind of take away from the story. If there was more of focus on one issue it would have been more coherent, but overall I really enjoyed the story.

I loved the Mediator series when I was younger so this new installment was a great addition. I was ecstatic to read about Sue and Jesse again. If you loved the Mediator series, then I suggest you pick up this book, because you will love it just as much.

*I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
